Electronics Engineer – Medical Electronic Systems (Proton Therapy)
Electronics Engineer
Mission.
As an Electronics Engineer, you will join the team developing medical electronic systems that integrate embedded software, FPGAs, and custom electronics for proton therapy. You will work on electronics hardware design and electronics verification testing of boards that include common digital peripherals (SPI, I2C, UART), high-speed digital peripherals (RMII, SGMII), on-board DC-DC converters and system-on-modules with FPGA/SoC, in an environment where IT security and IT hygiene for proton therapy sites are a strong focus.
Challenges we trust you with
- Design electronics boards: component selection, schematic design, PCB design and preparation for production, under project schedule and product cost constraints.
- Apply Design-for-Manufacturing (DFM) and Design-for-Testing (DFT) principles.
- Test signal integrity, power integrity, timing, and temperature of digital peripherals and on-board DC-DC converters.
- Work in an electronics lab environment using oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies and other test equipment.
- Measure, debug and find proper solutions for problems identified during electronics verification testing.
- Resolve hardware issues identified by other teams during unit testing of FPGA and software images.
- Write formal design description documents and test reports for design and test activities performed.
- Work closely with embedded software and FPGA teams, supporting test setups and debugging with testing equipment.
Required profile.
Master’s degree or equivalent experience in Electronics or a related field.
- Experience with Altium Designer (schematic and PCB design).
- Hands-on experience in an electronics lab environment with laboratory instruments (oscilloscopes, thermal cameras, multimeters, soldering iron).
- Basic knowledge of EMC, safety and reliability concepts in electronics design processes.
- Solid understanding of embedded electronics for regulated systems, including microcontrollers, FPGAs, and analog/digital interfaces.
- Experience with 4+ layer PCB design, including high-speed transmission lines, is an asset.
- Experience in development/verification of digital peripherals (SPI, I2C, UART, RMII) is an asset.
And you also are:
- Strong communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
- Rigorous and methodical in lab testing and debugging.
- Comfortable working closely with embedded software and FPGA teams.
- Detail-oriented, especially around documentation and test reports.
